Pushing MeeGo internationalization upstream
Session Summary:
MeeGo has a particular internationalization process that does not necessarily incorporate upstream efforts for projects that do indeed have an upstream. That creates some confusion and makes it difficult to push all the work towards a greater, than MeeGo, audience. On the other hand, the translation experience for MeeGo is much more welcoming for non-technical users that can easily help with such a task.
Session Abstract:
In this session I would like to describe some of my experience regarding i18n with different projects and compare them to how MeeGo feels like in this area. The process here is more complicated for developers but much more user friendly, which I believe allows for a bigger community to grow around it. But to be proper FOSS citizens, we need a clean way to get translations upstream wherever applicable and possible. I would like to describe what I have in mind and start a discussion in a mixed developer / translator environment.
