MeeGo on N900; The past, present and future

At Nokia we selected N900 as the MeeGo 1.1 Handset reference device on ARM side. We figured out that there must be a reference device that is real mobile device, is widely available and is relatively affordable. Knowing that we had to create MeeGo adaptation to that device, N900 was quite natural selection for us. We have been able to use existing Maemo/fremantle code/ drivers of course, as well as some good stuff from our new codebase.

As the work on MeeGo has just begun, we have had some difficulties to communicate our intentions about MeeGo on N900 both externally and internally. When writing this around middle of August, things start to settle quite nicely and there are some visible signs that we will in fact get it working !

So lets talk about how the future should and will look like. This should not be an one way talk but rather the start of discussion.
