MeeGo community OBS and repositories

Session Summary:
A more in-depth overview of the MeeGo community OBS (build service) and community software repositories. The community OBS can be used by every developer with a MeeGo account to compile an application against a range of targets. This talk will explain how a developer can use the OBS for application testing and how the application can be moved to the community applications repositories. The OBS is an essential part of the MeeGo community application development platforms and processes. The environment around the OBS draws on the "autobuilder" platform and processes from Maemo and incorporates the OBS as the main building service.
Session Abstract:

This session is intended for developers of opensource software, who
want to publish their application at meego.com. It will give the
developer a better understanding on how the building process inside
the MeeGo community OBS works. The differences between the target
repositories will be described in more detail, to give a better
understanding of how the repository structure has been setup.

This talk covers the OBS itself and discusses the various targets
available; these can be used to:

  • develop user applications;
  • to develop patches, and prepare, build and test platform-level
    packages for inclusion in MeeGo core;
  • to collaborate on community projects around MeeGo (eg ruby)

With the Maemo community's evolution from Fremantle; and with
Harmattan on the horizon; we also need to support application
developemt for these targets too. We'll be explaining how to build for
multiple MeeGo and Maemo

The OBS now provides PPA-like repositories
