Design is open!

Session Summary:
In the impulse driven consumer market, that mobile apps navigate, a fundamental aspect of of the success of an application resides on, "love at first sight", and overall usability of the application. To make such applications 2 elements are fundamental, coding skills, and designer skills. Unfortunately they usually reside in 2 different individuals. In this talk I hope I can share how we can attract more designers into the community and how communication needs to be addressed so designers and coders speak the same language.
Session Abstract:

Just like the best toolkit, technologies, API, can attract the best developers, the same can be said about design.
Good design brings good designers. Great example UI's + UI guidelines need to be created for a community of designers to flourish on top of, and then to create yet new ideas.

It is also vital that the communication between the designers and the coders is transparent and fluent, it is very important that they can speck the same language and understand each other.

In a platform such as Meego were the screen's definition/dpi/size/use change constantly. Technologies such as QML that try to make the UI a very thin layer for designers to work on with minimum developer intervention needed, are part of the solution to bring more designers in to the community, but some fundamental pieces need need to be in place in order to become a designers tool.
